headlines from Fernie, Whistler, Big White, Sunshine Village and

I receive many requests
from prospective vacationers as to when is the best time to come to
Western Canada to ski.
If the resorts are open at the time: I could easily say: "Right
Now." and be technically correct.
But no one would believe me.
For example: I tell people that January is often the very best time
to go to Fernie and Whistler. That way you can almost guarantee
yourself colder temperatures and a huge heaping of fresh powder.
They reply, "yeah but isn't it really cold then.."or: "what about
all that rain last year!"
True I answer back that January is typically the coldest month of
the year but Whistler and Fernie, being lower elevations, do not
suffer much with extreme cold. And yes, last year was an aberration
with lots of rain. Rain that easily could have been snow...
Like this year!

The Snow Gods have been kind to Western Canada
this January. Snow and lots of it combined with benign temperatures.
