Spring-time in the mountains sure can be crazy sometimes.

To prove my point, I have assembled a series of photos taken from mid-April to nearly the end of May.

Photo number one was taken on the river path a few hundred meters from my house. The leaves are just beginning to break out on the aspen trees and snow still sits heavy higher up.

Bow River Now in Flood

The water course in foreground was dry one week earlier, indicating the spring flood has finally arrived.

Number two was taken at Whistler Mountain, April 17. Colin Travers, CME Manager for the resort,(on left) was leading a group of us around the mountain.

Powder in April (again)

We were blessed with ankle deep powder and mostly sunny skies. Half-way down the mountain was a ceiling of cloud, discouraging the less intrepid skiers and boarders from venturing out.

Golf Courses in Great Shape

One often thinks of golf in the Spring and I finally hit the links at Silvertip. Number three shows the new clubhouse and meeting facilities. The tee-off for the tenth hole is situated just in front, Mt Rundle massif behind.

More Powder in April

Number four at right is Pablo Iriate, who works for Tour Operator and client, Ski Arias, from Madrid.

He and his colleague, Miguel Pardo enjoyed some great skiing at Blackcomb Mountain on April 18, while guided by Colin.

This shot is at the top of Blackcomb Glacier.

Spring, of course, is also the season of outdoor sports, like soccer.

I took this shot (Number Five), of my daughter's team, playing last Tuesday, May 22. In the background is the impressive, Grassy massif, with the horn of Chinaman's Peak, visible top right.

Powder skiing Again but in May!

The beginning of May saw cold weather and a hard rain in the valley. With an eye to the

possibilities of deep snow next day, I convinced my good friend, Rob Butler to head out to Sunshine Village, early May 4.

At right in Number six, is a photo Rob took of me, in 20 cm of fresh. I must be frank and tell you that we couldn't see worth squat but the prize of good powder was worth it.

And so ends another typical spring in the mountains!

Oh, I should tell you that my tee-time was delayed by 2 hours due to frost and some un-melted snow from the day before!
